Night and day

Not a huge fan of waking up early (especially not after I spent all my sleeping hours on dealing with what the oh so wise grown-ups call “teenage problems”). Anyways, the fresh morning air and the sight of those depressing blocks of flats were enough to shake the sleep out of me. Grabbed my camera real quick and took a few shots (the neighbors may or may not have heard banging sounds).

All humble jokes aside, it’s refreshing to enjoy stepping out of the routine once in a while.
You know, I’m quite a night owl. I’ve always loved everything about night, so quiet and peaceful. It’s like a dream to take a walk at night on those once crowded streets, now desolated and welcoming you to go on a mind-clearing walk. I really enjoy that chilly atmosphere that falls over the city at night, as if the air is back at its purified state.

As a night owl, I’m very fond of staying indoors, gazing at the street from behind my window.
At night, my most creative part shows up from the dark. In the daylight, my creativity is not showing at all, but when I'm alone in that peaceful darkness, I can imagine all sorts of things, from these posts, to stories about how my future will look like.

I reckon that I sound like some creepy person but I can assure you that I’m not. The difference between these two photos is rather surprising, given the fact they were taken in the same city. The mood these photographs give represents how morning people and night owls behave, or at least how they behave from my experience.

The photograph taken in the morning is soothing and calming, with powerful yet relaxing colors. On the other hand, the photo taken at night has a creepy yet mysterious aura, with those blue-ish lights in the distance and the darkness that surrounds the buildings.

If I would be a painter (sadly I suck at painting) I would be more than delighted to sketch something like Starry Night vs Daylight to show the differences and at the same time the resemblance between the two of them. I usually think of them as twins, they are the same on the outside, but if you look closely you will see that each is unique in it's way.
